Working as an intern at the Anytown, USA law firm of Murphy, Miller & Dorn the student will be introduced to the many issues that can arise in real estate practice.
During his days at the office, the student will encounter avatars of law office personnel and clients and through audio and video files will sit in on meetings and learn how to research and analyze problems related to real estate law and how to draft documents essential to clients in this area of practice.
Among the skills The Law Simulation Series: Real Estate Law will develop and refine are:
- Understanding the role of the paralegal and other personnel in the delivery of legal services for a real estate client
- Ability to perform investigative research essential to the representation of real estate clients
- Demonstrating knowledge of the basic principles of real estate law including ownership, conveyancing, financing, foreclosure, landlord-tenant
- Demonstrating knowledge of the components, documents and preparation needed to carry out real estate transactions
- Ability to draft documentation needed to carry out real estate transactions
- Understanding of the ethical responsibilities applicable to the practice of real estate law
- Ability to perform legal research relevant to real estate law
- Ability to perform critical analysis of client legal issues
- Ability to practice effective time management
