Working as an intern at the Anytown, USA law firm of Murphy, Miller & Dorn the student will have the opportunity to assist in a wide variety of criminal defense matters.
During his days at the office, the student will encounter avatars of an attorney and a paralegal, who will help guide the student’s work. Through audio and video files the student will sit in on meetings and learn how to ethically and responsibly navigate the criminal justice system.
Among the skills The Law Simulation Series: Criminal Law will develop and refine are:
- Understanding the role of attorneys and paralegals in the criminal justice system
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system including its structure and
- Knowledge of criminal law and procedures, and constitutional limitations
- Understanding of the ethical responsibilities applicable to the practice of criminal law
- Ability to perform legal research relevant to criminal law
- Ability to draft legal documents relating to criminal law
- Ability to provide litigation support services to trial counsel
- Ability to perform critical analysis of client legal issues
- Ability to practice effective time management
