The Aspen Advisor Week in Review for December 28, 2018

The last week of 2018 has prompted some notable headlines related to law school enrollment. “The Law Schools Where 1L Enrollment Skyrocketed” claims that first-year enrollment is up by 3% in 2018 compared to 2017. As a result, schools such as Wisconsin, UC Irvine, and Texas A&M saw increases of 82%, 44%, and 32%, respectively. “Another Law School Changes Course on the LSAT” covers the development of the GRE as a replacement for the LSAT. Accepting the GRE for law school admission will allow access to many hopeful law students who may not have the means to take the LSAT. Buffalo School of Law, NYU, Harvard, and Pace, among many others, are currently accepting the GRE for admission and 25% of all law schools plan to do so in the future. Looking ahead to 2019, law schools will continue to adapt to larger class sizes and changes in legal education.
2019 has a lot in store for the publishing industry as well. “Going Into 2019, The Publishing Industry is Excited About Audio” cites Ian Small, general manager of Audiobooks.com, who predicts that audio content will grow more than ever in 2019. This will result in an expanded listener demographic and creative solutions to bringing these products to market. This trend follows the rise in demand for digital products within the publishing industry that we’ve seen in recent years. As this week’s headlines have shown, there is a lot of change coming in 2019!
