    Robin Fretwell Wilson

    Robin Fretwell Wilson is Professor of Law and Alumni Faculty Fellow at Washington and Lee University School of Law.
    Professor Wilson received her J.D. and B.A. degrees from the University of Virginia where, at the School of Law, she served on the Editorial Board of the Virginia Law Review. Before entering practice, she clerked for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
    A specialist in Family Law and Health Law, her research and teaching interests also include Insurance and Biomedical Ethics. Professor Wilson is the editor of three volumes: Same-Sex Marriage and Religious Liberty: Emerging Conflicts (Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, Inc., 2008) (with Douglas Laycock and Anthony A. Picarello); Reconceiving the Family: Critique on the American Law Institute's Principles of the Law of Family Dissolution (Cambridge University Press, 2006); and the Handbook of Children, Culture & Violence (Sage Publications, 2006) (with Nancy Dowd & Dorothy G. Singer). She has published articles in the Cornell Law Review, the Emory Law Journal, the North Carolina Law Review, and the San Diego Law Review, as well as in numerous peer-reviewed journals.
    Professor Wilson has presented her research in Italy, England, Wales, Poland, Serbia, Japan, Canada, Norway, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, and France, as well as throughout the United States. Her work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, ABA Journal, the Chronicle of Higher Education, Chicago Tribune, CNN Headline News, Good Morning America, ABC News, CBS News, the Philadelphia Inquirer, The State newspaper, and The Charlotte Observer, among others. Professor Wilson is the Chair-Elect of the Section on Family and Juvenile Law of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) and the past Chair of the AALS' Section on Law, Medicine & Healthcare.

    Sandra H. Johnson

    Sandra Johnson is Professor of Law and Tenet Endowed Chair in Health Law and Ethics at St. Louis University School of Law.
    Sandra Johnson’s scholarship has helped form the field of health law. The casebook she co-authored in 1987, Health Law — Cases, Materials and Problems, was the first to use the title of ''health law.'' Now in its 5th edition, the book has been used in more than 150 universities in the United States and has been cited more than 500 times in scholarly articles and court opinions. Johnson is also co-author of the treatise Health Law, which the U.S. Supreme Court has cited three times — a rarity for such publications.
    Professor Johnson’s research interests include long-term health care, medical licensure and bioethics. A prolific writer, her work has been published in prestigious journals, including the Journal of the American Medical Association. For the past seven years she has been exploring regulatory issues in pain management.
    Professor Johnson was an assistant law professor at New York Law School before joining Saint Louis University in 1978. In 1982, she became founding director of the Center for Health Law Studies, now recognized as one of the top health law centers in the country. She served as interim dean of the law school from 1991-92 and was provost of Saint Louis University from 1998-2002 before resuming teaching full time.
    She holds the Tenet Endowed Chair in Health Law and Ethics at Saint Louis University Center for Health Care Ethics. She also has secondary teaching appointments in the School of Medicine and School of Public Health.

    Joan H. Krause

    Joan Krause is George Butler Research Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Health Law & Policy Institute at the University of Houston Law Center.
    Professor Krause received her B.A. with Honors in Political Science from Yale University, where she graduated summa cum laude. She received her J.D. with Distinction from Stanford Law School, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif and served as Senior Articles Editor of the Stanford Law and Policy Review.
    Before attending law school, Professor Krause worked as a medical writer/editor in the pharmaceutical industry. After law school, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Dorothy W. Nelson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. After her clerkship, Professor Krause was an associate in the Health Practice Group of Hogan & Hartson L.L.P. in Washington, DC, where her work focused on regulatory and administrative health care matters with an emphasis on health care fraud and abuse. Professor Krause was a member of the health law faculty at Loyola University Chicago School of Law from 1997-2001. She joined the Law Center's faculty in July 2001, and became Co-Director of the Institute in 2004.
    Her research interests include Health Law, Criminal Law, and Women and the Law.

    Richard S. Saver

    Richard S. Saver is a Professor of Law and co-director of the Health Law and Policy Institute at Houston Law Center.
    Professor Saver received his B.A. summa cum laude from Harvard University in History and Science (Biology) and his J.D. with distinction from Stanford Law School. He was a member of the Stanford Law Review. Following law school, he clerked for Judge Eugene Wright on the United States Court of Appeals - 9th Circuit. He then practiced in the health law department of McDermott, Will, & Emery in Washington, D.C.
    Next, Professor Saver practiced as Associate General Counsel for the University of Chicago Hospitals and Health System, working on a variety of regulatory, transactional, and patient-care issues. He also served as counsel to the University of Chicago's human subjects research review committee (the University's Institutional Review Board). Professor Saver also lectured on health law topics at the University of Chicago Medical Center. His research interests include health law, nonprofit organizations, and torts.
    The Order of the Barons honored Professor Saver as Professor of the Year in 2003-2004.
