    Robert W. Gomulkiewicz

    Robert Gomulkiewicz is director of the Graduate Program in Intellectual Law and Policy and a professor of law at the University of Washington. Professor Gomulkiewicz joined the UW law school faculty in 2002 to direct the graduate program in Intellectual Property Law and Policy. Prior to joining the faculty, he was Associate General Counsel at Microsoft where he led the group of lawyers providing legal counsel for development of Microsoft's major systems software, desktop applications, and developer tools software (including Windows and Office). He also served as chair of the Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act (UCITA) working group of the Business Software Alliance. He joined Microsoft from the law firm of Preston, Gates & Ellis where he represented developers and users of software and information products. While at Preston, Gates & Ellis, he worked on the Apple v. Microsoft case. Professor Gomulkiewicz has published articles on open source software, mass market licensing, the UCITA, and legal protection for software. He is also the author of the Simple Public License (SimPL) which is a plain language rendering of the venerable GNU General Public License.

    Xuan-Thao Nguyen

    Xuan-Thao Nguyen is a professor of law at the SMU Dedman School of Law. Professor Nguyen focuses on the interdisciplinary of intellectual property, the Internet, commercial law and taxation in her teaching and scholarship. She has co-authored several treatises and casebooks, including Treatise, Intellectual Property and Information Licensing Law (BNA 2007); Casebook, Licensing Intellectual Property: Law and Application (Aspen, 2008); Intellectual Property Taxation (BNA 2003); and Casebook, Intellectual Property Taxation: Problems and Materials (Carolina Academic Press, 2004).
    Professor Nguyen’s articles are published in the U.C. Davis Law Review (twice), the Georgia Law Review, the Hasting Law Journal, the Wake Forest Law Review, the North Carolina Law Review, the Washington & Lee Law Review, the George Mason Law Review , the American University Law Review (twice), the Loyola Chicago Law Journal, the Albany Law Review, the Chicago-Kent Intellectual Property Journal, the Tulane Law Review and the Loyola Chicago Consumer Law Review. Professor Nguyen also published in the Licensing Journal (Aspen Publishers) and Internet Law & Business. Her scholarships have been cited by the Federal Circuit, the Third Circuit, the Ninth Circuit, among others, in In re Steelbuilding.com, 415 F.3d 1293 (Fed. Cir. 2005); Interstellar Starship Services, Ltd v. Epix, Inc. , 304 F.3d 936 (9th Cir. 2002); Times Mirror Magazines, Inc. v. Las Vegas Sports News, 212 F.3d 157, 175 (3d Cir. 2000); and Pharmacia Corp. v. Alcon Laboratories, Inc., 201 F.Supp.2d 335 (D.N.J. 2002); EMSL Analytical, Inc. v. Testamerica Analytical Testing Corp., 2006 WL 892718 (D.N.J. April 4, 2006).
    Professor Nguyen is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences. She also serves as expert witness in litigation matters. She was the first American law professor to lecture at the Vietnam National University Faculty of Law in Hanoi. She provides technical expertise to the Vietnamese government, law schools and bar associations. Prior to entering academia, she practiced law at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson (New York City) and Pryor, Cashman, Sherman & Flynn (New York City). Professor Nguyen is registered to practice in the United States Patent and Trademark Office. She is an active member of the International Trademark Association and has served as a planning committee member for the INTA annual conferences in the last six years. She organizes and chairs the SMU Annual Symposium on Emerging Intellectual Property Issues.
    Professor Nguyen teaches Secured Transactions, Payment Systems, The Internet/Law of Electronic Commerce, Intellectual Property and International Intellectual Property at SMU Dedman School of Law.

    Danielle Conway

    Danielle Conway is a professor of law and Director of the Hawaii Procurement Institute at the University of Hawaii School of Law. Professor Conway joined the University of Hawaii faculty in 2000. She teaches Intellectual Property, Government Contract Law, International Intellectual Property, and Internet Law and Policy. She also served as the Interim Director of the Law and Methods Program for 2002-03.
    Previously, Professor Conway was on the faculty of The University of Memphis, Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, teaching Torts, Toxic Tort Litigation, and Government Contract Law. She was also on the faculty at Georgetown University Law Center, teaching Legal Research and Writing and Legal Writing for Foreign Lawyers.
    Professor Conway graduated from New York University, Stern School of Business with degrees in Finance and International Business and a United States Army Commission. She attended the Howard University School of Law, where she served on both the Howard Law Journal and the National Moot Court Board. After attaining her law degree and bar memberships, she fulfilled her military commitment by graduating from the Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, VA and receiving an appointment to the Chief Counsel's Honors Program, United States Army Corps of Engineers, Washington, DC.
    Professor Conway primarily practiced in the procurement law section, representing the United States Government in complex bid protest litigation. While on active duty, she earned a dual Master of Laws degree in Environmental Law and Government Procurement Law. Currently Professor Conway is a Major in the United States Army Reserve assigned as a Professor at The Judge Advocate General's School in Charlottesville, VA.
    Professor Conway's LLM thesis and other writings appear in the Howard Law Journal, the University of Richmond Law Review, the Santa Clara Law Review, the Asian-Pacific Law and Policy Journal, the Washington University Global Studies Law Review, and the Michigan Journal of Race and Law. She has spoken and presented at various conferences in the United States, China, Micronesia, and Mongolia on topics including Globalization, Distance Education, Intellectual Property, E-Commerce, and Indigenous Peoples' Rights in Traditional Knowledge. She is the author of three books: State and Local Government Procurement Law: An Analysis and Commentary, ABA Publishing (2007), Licensing Intellectual Property: Law and Application, Aspen Publishers (with Professors Xuan-Thao Ngyuen and Robert Gomulkiewicz, 2008), and Intellectual Property, Software, and Information Licensing Law, BNA Books (with Professors Xuan-Thao Ngyuen and Robert Gomulkiewicz, 2006)
    Professor Conway teaches Government Contract Law, Intellectual Property, International Intellectual Property, Internet Law & Policy, and Legal Research and Writing.
